Who are EUMOS?
The European Safe Logistics Association (EUMOS) is a non-profit association that focuses on cargo transport safety, including load securing and stability.
They develop new safety standards and test methods and aim to spread knowledge and information about cargo transport safety across Europe.
EUMOS Registered firm
Hazel 4D is a EUMOS registered firm.
EUMOS recognises that we’ve shown a strong commitment to increasing transport and logistics safety. We’ve demonstrated sustainable efforts towards the EU objectives to achieve 0 fatalities on the road by 2050.
Our load stability experts regularly attend EUMOS conferences to keep up to date with the latest thinking and regulations around pallet load stability and cargo securing.
EUMOS 40509 standard
The EUMOS 40509 standard outlines a method for testing for load unit rigidity and is part of EU Directive 2014/47. This cargo transport legislation was introduced in 2018 to improve road safety across Europe and reduce fatalities.
EU authorities can conduct roadside cargo checks and everyone from loaders to drivers has a responsibility to ensure a load is secured correctly.
If your trucks cause a traffic accident due to inadequately secured cargo, your company could be faced with a huge fine, as well as suffering reputational damage, huge product losses and the consequences of any fatalities.
Hazel 4D’s pallet load stability consultations are designed to help our customers meet the requirements of the EUMOS 40509 standard and ensure your pallet loads are safe and secure.
Hazel 4D Pallet load stability consultations
EUMOS believes that load securing starts with the load unit and its packaging.
But it isn’t just about the stretch film you use to wrap your pallets.
To meet the EUMOS standards and optimise load stability, you also need to look at how you’re applying your stretch film, and the machinery and settings you’re using to do so.
During our load stability consultations, our technical experts help you calibrate your pallet wrapping machines to make sure your stretch film is applied properly using the optimum settings.
This can help you meet EU safety standards, use the correct amount of film and ensure your goods arrive with your customers in one piece.
Pallet testing device
We work closely with EUMOS member, ESTL; an engineering company who specialise in testing and optimising loads for stability.
We were the first company in the UK to buy their pallet testing device to test the forces exerted on pallet loads by the stretch wrap.
The device allows us to help you fix any instabilities and improve the rigidity of your pallets.
Extremus Stretch Film
We recommend using Extremus Stretch Film to sufficiently secure your loads.
This high-performance load holding film is produced from a unique blend of ingredients using the latest technology. It’s designed to meet the EUMOS 40509 standard when applied correctly.
When used with the correct wrapping system, Extremus promises the excellent containment, stability and safety of every load.
